Call for CACMID Award Nominations

The CACMID Awards and Nominations Committee is calling for nominations for the following three CACMID awards. Please submit the nomination requirements for each award by February 15, 2024.

1) 2024 John G. Fitzgerald Award

The John G. FitzGerald CACMID Award recognizes Canadian Microbiologists that have significantly advanced the field of medical microbiology through their contributions to clinical, academic, and/or educational pillars. This prestigious honour is awarded each year at the annual AMMI-CACMID meeting. The award includes a monetary value of $1,500, a lifetime honorary membership to CACMID, and a commemorative plaque. The recipient will be invited to the annual AMMI-CACMID meeting to receive the award. Travel and accommodation expenses for the recipient will be reimbursed by CACMID.

2) 2024 Michael R. Mulvey Studentship Award

The Michael R. Mulvey CACMID Studentship Award recognizes a Canadian trainee that has made a noteworthy contribution to the field of antimicrobial resistance (AMR) in the form of a recently published article (within the last two years). This award is in recognition of Dr. Mulvey of the National Microbiology Laboratory, a world-renowned expert in the field of AMR, and will be given annually at the AMMI-CACMID meeting. The award includes a monetary value of $800 and a commemorative plaque. Meeting registration cost will be reimbursed. NOTE: self-nominations accepted.

3) 2024 CACMID Mentorship Award

The CACMID Mentorship Award recognizes individuals who have demonstrated a consistent and impactful commitment to mentoring trainees in the fields of clinical microbiology and infectious diseases. The award presented at the annual AMMI-CACMID meeting. The award includes a monetary value of $800 and a commemorative plaque. The recipient will be invited to the CACMID annual meeting to receive the award. Meeting registration will be reimbursed.
