The Department of Laboratory Medicine with Eastern Health Authority invites applicants for a full-time Clinical Microbiologist position to serve in the Division of Clinical Microbiology.
The successful candidate will have analytical/technical supervisory and clinical service responsibilities within the routine and specialty Clinical Microbiology Laboratories located in St. John’s under the Eastern Health Authority. The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include formal interactions with Clinical Microbiology Laboratories in the Regional Health Authorities outside of Eastern Health with designated authority provided by each RHA for specific issues related to their subspecialty. This includes providing expert technical and medical advice to all exiting staff where appropriate. The position offers the opportunity to work in our OLA accredited laboratories and working with all Clinical Microbiology Laboratories towards providing standardized services in the Province. Through strong formal affiliations with Memorial University, the successful candidate will be eligible for a clinical faculty appointment in the Department of Laboratory Medicine and will be encouraged to participate in collaborative research activities. The ideal candidate will be a team player and have strong communication and excellent interpersonal skills to function as a consultant to clinicians as well as non-clinical staff. Previous experience in Clinical Microbiology service would be an asset.
