The Provincial Public Health Laboratory (ProvLab), Alberta Health Services, Edmonton, Alberta, invites applications for the Medical Director, Provincial Laboratory for Public Health (ProvLab).
The ProvLab offers an excellent environment for career development including opportunities to pursue collaborative clinical and research activities with the School of Clinical and Laboratory Medicine, the new Li Ka Shing Institute of Virology, the Divisions of Adult and Pediatric Infectious Disease in the Faculty of Dentistry and Medicine, and the School of Public Health. The University of Alberta and the University of Calgary rank amongst the top tier of large Canadian research intensive Universities. Academic appointments may be held in the Faculty of Dentistry and Medicine or the School of Public Health at the University of Alberta or the Faculty of Medicine or School of Public Health at the University of Calgary.
The core functions of the ProvLab include (but are not restricted to): testing for pathogens or immune states of public health significance, population-based screening, laboratory surveillance to support cluster detection and disease trends of public health significance, specialized diagnostic testing, education, and research.
